A digital payment system designed to modernize Ethiopia’s taxi transportation network by providing passengers and drivers with a fair, transparent, and efficient way to manage taxi transactions. Passengers will be able to maintain their taxi balance, provide trip information, and pay their fares online. In the same manner, drivers will be able to receive their payment in their designated account.

One of the features of the project is automatic fare calculation, where the fare is determined based on the trip provided by the passenger and the official tariff, hence eliminating the driver’s ability to increase prices. The process eliminates any possibility of negotiation, increases transparency in pricing, minimizes the possibility of additional charges and cash transactions, and keeps track of transportation costs digitally.

For drivers, the project will facilitate their ability to be paid through a secure and reliable platform, minimize cash issues, and ensure that accurate records of daily transactions and income settlements are kept. With all the processes of taxi payment integrated into a single platform, the Ethiopian Digital Taxi Payment Platform is expected to improve the efficiency of the taxi services.
